My daughter loves this new series and I can’t say enough good things about it either!  Doc McStuffins, which premiered last year and has been signed for a second season during Disney’s Summer programming, targets children ages 2-7 years old.  The show follows a 6-year-old girl as she gives imaginary check-ups to her toys and provides diagnosis by observing their symptoms.

Finally, something non-beauty related from Disney that girls can aspire to.  It’s more than due.  What makes this show really special though is the fact that Doc McStuffins’ mother is a real doctor.  Throughout the series, we see Doc bringing her “tough cases” to her mother for additional consultation and these sessions between Doc and her mother are what truly make the series stand out.

It’s not just another ‘imagination’ series for girls…Doc has an actual example that makes her goal reachable…her mother.  This is both touching and poignant, since data shows that children draw their conclusions about life from real experiences and media representations.  Not only does Doc McStuffins have an example in her mother, but the ability to watch Doc and her mother interact also provides children watching the program with a realistic example of both the goal and end result.  Win, win!

Fun is the Best Medicine

I recently had the opportunity to review this show for my daughter.  Disney released a new Doc McStuffins: Friendship Is The Best Medicine DVD + Digital Copy with GWP Stickers in August.  To celebrate, they sent us a DVD and a doctor’s kit (enter the giveaway below to win it!).  Lily was super serious about pretending to be a doctor.  LOL!  Check her out in her little doctor’s coat!  So super cute!!  ;)
