Mexican Candies, Mother’s Day & More

So much has happened in the last week or so and there is so much more to come!  The photo above really demonstrates the information overload that I’ve felt at times…lol.  But honestly, I feel terrible that my little blog has been somewhat neglected and I haven’t had time to make new posts as often as I normally would, but I am so happy to tell you that the new blogazine is coming around beautifully and there are a lot of wonderful people working in the background to write some excellent articles for this new site.  I’m really excited for the upcoming reveal and for all that it will bring to the multicultural blogosphere.  Thank you to everyone who has been in on this with me!  Your support, advice, encouragement and talents are so appreciated!

Besides the new blog, I have some exciting news for this blog…Bicultural Mom will be doing reviews and giveaways very soon!  I can’t tell you how excited I am about this!  Familia, I want to share everything that’s important to me on this blog and I think that reviews are important tools for raising our children with quality multicultural and socially aware content.  With each piece that I review, I intend to focus on what I feel is most important and valued by multicultural and bicultural moms.  More to come in future posts.  :)

So, I said this week has been busy…to say the least!  ;)  Besides working on the new blog, I’ve celebrated Mother’s Day and cinco de mayo, received a ‘secret’ gift from a bloggy buddy via mail and been working hard to nail down my first giveaway!  So, let’s start off with the best first…Mother’s Day!

My husband and daughter went out to ‘make’ me a present, of course, not telling me at all what it was!  At least I knew it was being ‘made’…lol…so that gave me some clue!  Three days later, it was time to open my gift…and I couldn’t be happier!  I’m overjoyed at what a great job my hubby and baby girl did on this decorative plate for Día de las madres!  This weekend we BBQ’d, chilled around the house, watched movies, then ordered pizza, snuggled up on the couch and finally…I got to open my gift!  I’m so impressed to find out that my baby girl picked the colors by herself (baby blue and red) and excited to find out that she and her daddy had so much fun.  She asked to paint another project for Christmas…lol.  I think we might do something for Father’s Day though.  ;)  Don’t tell hubby!

So earlier in the week, we also went to a cinco de mayo celebration here in town.  We showed up a little late…let’s just call it fashionably late.  ;)  And we listened to las bandas, ate all the carne asada and barbacoa tacos we could eat, and jumped around in the bouncy houses.  Nothing like a good ‘ol fiesta to put you in the spirit of celebration!  The only down side was the weather…it was a hair away from freezing!  See for yourself…

Yeah, just look at that little red nose…lol.  We only stayed about an hour…and for Lily, half of that was under her manta (blanket).  It was a fun day though and regardless of the cold, we all got up from under the mantas to dance and get seconds of the fab tacos via our favorite vendor!

Just in time for cinco de mayo, I got a package in the mail last week from a fav bloggy buddy and comadre, Ezzy!  {Can’t thank you enough amiga!}  Earlier in the week she had asked for my address, so I knew she was up to something sneaky.  ;)  When we got a knock at the door, Lily raced over and held her arms out for the package.  “I got a present!” she squealed happily.  Now, how could I ruin that?  Lol…I told her that her honorary tía had sent a gift just for her.  She happily opened the box and was excited to find Mexican candies inside…two of mommy’s favorites!  ;)

Yeah…that little hand coming in to make the snatch…that’s her.  Haha!  Just like mommy, she loves mazapan and cajeta!  We ate a few of each before papi came home and he was excited to see them too.  We’ll definitely have to make a sneak attack back at ‘tía Ezzy’!  =)

Believe it or not, one more crazy event this week!  Lily got a kitten!  A little black kitten that she named ‘Tiger’, after her baby toy tiger.  This one was another surprise because some girls just happened to be walking by and looking for a home for two kittens.  My hubby (not much of an animal lover) decided that it was time for a pet and asked if I thought Lily was ready.  I had to think about it, but there was no way that I was going to pass up my hubby’s offer…usually he would have said no to any pet…especially a cat.  So, here we are, official pet owners and the kitty’s meal times are more timely than our own…lol.

So, I leave you with a super cute photo of Lily holding her new baby ‘Tiger’ after her very first bubble bath.  Umm…yeah, life doesn’t get much sweeter than this.  ♥
