Mexican Hot Chocolate Ice Cream Float
When I was growing up, my very first ice cream float ever was a “black cow.” It was my dad’s favorite. Coke and vanilla ice cream. Simple.
I grew to love this combination so much that most other ice cream floats still never measure up to this classic. It’s always been my favorite.
Today, I’m sharing a twist on the classic by using Mexican Coke (the BEST Coke!) to create this delicious Mexican Hot Chocolate Ice Cream Float.
I’m still keeping it simple, just like the classic, but I’m adding even more rich and decadent ingredients to make this the perfect ice cream float for chocoholics and Coke lovers!

Mexican Hot Chocolate + Mexican Coke Float
It starts with a mix of H-E-B’s Creamy Creations Mexican Hot Chocolate Ice Cream and an icy Mexican Coke.
The combination is then topped off with whipped cream, chocolate syrup or fudge and freshly grated Abuelita’s Mexican chocolate.
I love this float because the Mexican Coke really helps to balance the sweetness of the chocolate. It’s sweet, rich and savory all at once.
TIP: Make your Mexican Hot Chocolate Ice Cream Float boozy by adding a shot or two of Kahlua! This is a great option for adults entertaining at a holiday party or an adult birthday.

Mexican Coke Floats with Abuelita’s Chocolate
In our home, we use Abuelita’s chocolate in everything, from atole to sundaes. Our kids also like to eat the little bricks of chocolate all on their own too. They love the cinnamon flavor and gritty texture.
That’s why I knew this float would be an instant favorite and regular staple dessert in our home. We serve this float in a large diner glass, with plenty of sticky goodness spilling over.

The refreshing bite of the Mexican Coke and Abuelita’s comforting spices and sweetness make this the perfect treat. Both pair perfectly with H-E-B’s Creamy Creations Mexican Hot Chocolate ice cream.
The ice cream is a gorgeous, rich chocolate base laced throughout with a thick, decadent syrup with the gritty texture of Abuelita’s Mexican Chocolate and all of the flavors and spices we’ve come to love.
It’s a perfect representation of what you would expect when served a chilled version of Mexican Hot Chocolate. I was so impressed with the flavor that it inspired this ice cream float and accompanying sundae.
If you live near an H-E-B, you absolutely have to pick some up to try yourself. It is amazing! βββββ

For every ice cream float recipe I make, I also love to create a smaller version in the form of a sundae. It’s the perfect serving size in these cute little dessert bowls and the kids love how easy it is to decorate their own.

You’ll use about half of the amount you would normally include in your ice cream float. Just one scoop of ice cream, a splash of soda and all the toppings you love!
